I work as a peripatetic piano teacher for a local education authority, and I was recently allocated a four year old boy for piano lessons. My initial reaction was that a child of this age was too young for piano lessons; however, some online research put me in touch with the Dogs and Birds site. I was intrigued by the method and by the books and resources available as part of this teaching method. I decided to give it a try, and ordered the piano books, animal tiles and stickers. I am so glad I did! The four year old boy loved it, and was playing from the book in the first lesson! His mother was very impressed to see her young son reading music and playing with confidence after just one lesson! I have also tried the Dogs and Birds method on older children who have a variety of special educational needs, such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and autistic spectrum disorder, and they have all loved it and made excellent progress. I can wholeheartedly recommend this teaching method, and my only regret is that I didn't discover it sooner. Barbara Lillford on 27th Dec 2015
I really enjoy this course but just wish I could get a supply of the animal book at a discount price to sell at my school. jennifer sadler on 18th Nov 2014
My daughter has developed her piano playing with such breadth as a result of this book. I have noticed how singing the animal names, rather than just the alphabetical labels for notes, really helped her to develop her vocal pitch. The melodies have musical depth and an emphasis upon the many different aspects of learning to play the piano. Thank you for this wonderful piano book which has facilitated such a thorough grounding in learning to play the piano. Pianomum on 13th Sep 2014
