Musical Method is Animal Magic

A local piano teacher has developed a novel method to help young children learn how to play the piano and read music. The system, called Dogs and Birds, has been created by Elza Lusher, who teaches privately and at the ACS (Egham) International School, to help children aged 4-7 develop their keyboard skills.
Each note on the piano is given an animal name - Dog for D, Bird for B and Cat for C.

Younger children, especially those who haven’t learned their alphabet, often have difficulty finding notes on the keyboard and struggle to read music.

With Dogs and Birds, the animals are printed inside the notes to help the children read the music and they can sing the animal names as they play the notes.

With her husband Chris, Elza has produced two music books, which can be used by parents and teachers. For more information see
